Signal is an encrypted communications application for Android and iOS. It uses the Internet to send one-to-one and group messages, which can include files, voice notes, images and videos, and make one-to-one voice and video calls. Signal uses standard cellular mobile numbers as identifiers, and uses end-to-end encryption to secure all communications to other Signal users.

In my expirience, when people know they explain - unless under duress. I'm only assuming she knows.

It's probably the chief security concern with Signal I see coming up over and over. You already said nobody who scales can do without a #, Skype does.

@mer__edith @signalapp I'm concerned that Signal still requires an old fashioned telephone subscription to sign up. Phone numbers are widely used for Gov and business spying. It's better than SMS, but not a replacement if such trackability is required.

@keysmashbandit It's because neither Google nor Apple will play nicely. Use @signalapp, it's better than both.
