It is a voluntary program that saves you 20% on your utility bill. “All of the customers affected had enrolled in a voluntary program, called AC Rewards.”

@not_abigdealtho @KarmaGatzy @nathanmhansen @XcelEnergyMN He is demanding an analog meter versus one that transmits kilowatt hour usage for billing. That meter has nothing to do with completely unrelated “saver switch”tech that has to be wired into thermostats &AC with written consent. In any event, government has nothing to do with it.

This is conflating two entirely different things: (1) A meter that transmits the number of kilowatts hours used for billing purposes so someone doesn’t have to physically read a analog meter and (2) a voluntary “saver switch” attached to your AC.
