@elliasdev @signalapp @mer__edith Phone number still required for signup, but that can now be set to be hidden. The change to "hide my number" will become fully effective once everyone is on the new versions of the app and the old ones expire.

@JonAustinjourn1 The interesting thing is @WhatsApp & @signalapp were used throughout #Encrochat intercept by the NCA, not only to communicate with UK officers, but with French, Dutch & who knows who else. Don't forget that Luke Shrimpton disposed of his device containing messages in Oct 2020

@oinodata @anon_opin @signalapp I don’t know anything about Signal, but if you use it because it’s ‘end to end encrypted’ as described in their bio, WhatsApp fits that description too.
