@bchesky @AirbnbHelp After I stayed in an Airbnb that had no hot water, the hosts retaliated against me for making a complaint to Airbnb and filed a $10,000 fraudulent claim. @Airbnb customer service has been useless and just slapped me with a 7,800 bill without doing any investigation.

...because it isn't his policy. But it was his mistake!! @Airbnb refuses to admit he has no claim on my money. I can't believe I'm having trouble convincing them I don't owe money on a place I was told wasn't available. Caveat emptor for @Airbnb these days.

I'd started looking for other places, and did book one. I'm absent-minded so completely forgot I'd reserved the original place -- to reserve is to pay, on @Airbnb. In my mind I'd only asked a question. Eventually I noticed in my bank account a charge for $569.27

I'm in another tussle with an @Airbnb guy, who told me he couldn't rent to me but charged me anyway. It's far too easy for this type of thing to happen -- @Airbnb has completely jumped the shark.

airbnb claims to have improved price transparency & showing fees at booking but now the hosts just force you to pay additional fees on a separate platform to confirm the booking! off-platform fees totalling ~30% over the booking cost @Airbnb experience only gets worse @bchesky
