Signal is an encrypted communications application for Android and iOS. It uses the Internet to send one-to-one and group messages, which can include files, voice notes, images and videos, and make one-to-one voice and video calls. Signal uses standard cellular mobile numbers as identifiers, and uses end-to-end encryption to secure all communications to other Signal users.

@chaserxy @MicahZoltu @semenov_roman_ @0x_eddie @signalapp file names - yes, but probably not file sizes. Although we can of course use the same chunking/padding approach as we do with XFTP, but it seems quite wasteful and unnecessary for local storage.

@semenov_roman_ @0x_eddie @SimpleXChat @signalapp Hmm, the "same local network" is quite problematic when both devices are using an always on VPN. Particularly the phone, which don't allow VPN bypass routing configuration natively.

@semenov_roman_ @0x_eddie @SimpleXChat @signalapp I believe they still won't be on the same private network in that case. The computer will be running all traffic through it's VPN, while the phone will be running it's traffic (other than hotspot) through a separate VPN connection.
